About Oakville Mediation

Oakville Mediation is a solo family law practice run by lawyer and certified mediator Robina Khan, who was called to the Ontario bar in 2016 and has practiced exclusively in family law since then. The practice helps couples resolve matters that come up around cohabitation, marriage, separation, and divorce, working toward agreements outside of court. Khan holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Arts and Business, a co-operative program at the University of Waterloo completed on the Dean's Honours List, and a law degree from the University of Ottawa earned cum laude.

Mediation training came through the Family Dispute Resolution Institute of Ontario, where Khan is a certified mediator, plus a Certificate in Family Mediation from York University covering family relations and screening for family violence and power imbalances. Before opening an independent practice, Khan trained under mediator Cathryn Paul at Paul Family Law Professional Corporation in Oakville, first as an intern and then as an associate. As a lawyer as well as a mediator, Khan can draft a separation agreement directly once each party has had independent legal advice, so couples don't need separate counsel just to formalize a mediated settlement. Sessions run online over Zoom, and a newer division now carries the service into Guelph and Centre Wellington alongside the original Oakville and GTA client base.
