Before opening the firm, Lukaweski spent about three years working in Newfoundland and Labrador, first with the provincial government and then in private practice, on corporate, immigration, and intellectual property files for clients ranging from startups to multinational companies. Lukaweski then returned to Toronto and worked as virtual in-house counsel for small and medium businesses and other law firms before starting Novate Legal. The firm's office is on King Street East in downtown Toronto.
