About The Gavel Law Group

The Gavel Law Group is a small law firm with its office on Finch Avenue West in the North York area of Toronto. Managing partner Gavin Holder leads a team that also includes an associate lawyer, a legal assistant, a law clerk, and a law student. The firm's practice covers corporate law, criminal defence, family law, wills and estate planning, immigration law, insolvency and debt collection, powers of attorney, and notary services. It also runs a Caribbean law practice, helping clients with matters that touch both the Canadian and Caribbean legal systems, including immigration, real estate transactions, and estate planning and probate for property held in the Caribbean.

Gavin Holder was born and raised in Ottawa and comes from a family of legal professionals. Holder was called to the Ontario bar in 2011 and built a practice around litigation; the firm says its criminal law team has represented clients at the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice, and the Court of Appeal. Outside client work, Holder mentors law students at Toronto Metropolitan University and takes part in initiatives that promote access to justice, including educating people about their legal rights and guiding them through estate planning. Holder is also a two time Kiwanis Music Festival champion pianist.
