About Mackenzie Family Law Professional Corporation

Mackenzie Family Law Professional Corporation is a solo family law practice in North York, Toronto. Founder Jaclyn Mackenzie was called to the Ontario Bar in 2014 and opened the practice in 2018, after previously working at a family law firm. Before that, the education path ran through a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction from Western University in 2010, completed with the University Gold Medal for the highest academic standing in the degree program, and then a Juris Doctor from Queen's University's Faculty of Law in 2013.

During law school at Queen's, Jaclyn Mackenzie volunteered with the campus Family Law Clinic, helping self represented litigants draft court forms, and the final year included serving as the clinic's director while also working as a research assistant. That work was recognized at graduation with the Nicholas Bala Award for Student Excellence and the Community Commitment Award. The practice today centers on negotiating agreements and pursuing court orders for decision making responsibility, parenting time, child support, and restraining orders, and a large part of the caseload involves child protection matters with Children's Aid Societies. The firm accepts both Legal Aid Ontario certificates and private retainers, billing privately retained clients by the hour or with a flat fee for drafting court materials.
