Dogen Law is a Toronto area immigration firm based in North York, run by Marjan Dogen. The practice concentrates on one specific problem: helping people who can't get into Canada because of a past criminal record, including DUI convictions, theft, assault, and drug offences. The two main tools it works with are criminal rehabilitation applications, a permanent fix available once at least five years have passed since a sentence was completed, and temporary resident permits, which cover a single planned trip when that five year window hasn't opened yet. The firm also runs a free online eligibility assessment so a prospective client can get a first read on their options before booking a consultation.
Marjan Dogen is a Barrister and Solicitor in Ontario, a member in good standing of the Law Society of Ontario, and is also licensed with the Florida Bar. That combination came out of a dual Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law and Michigan State University College of Law, plus an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology from York University. The path has included work at a Toronto immigration law firm advising clients on immigration matters, and, before returning to Ontario in 2016, a role at one of the largest e-discovery law firms in the United States on anti-trust litigation and mergers and acquisitions. Marjan Dogen has also advised individual and corporate clients on immigration matters between Canada and the United States.
By appointment
Flat feeDogen Law's office is in a 21 storey Class A tower at 5000 Yonge Street that was built in 2004 and connects directly to the North York Centre subway station, on a stretch of Yonge Street that's grown into one of North York's main clusters of professional offices. That fits a practice whose clients are dealing with a border crossing rather than a local dispute: people are travelling in from across Canada and the United States for a consultation, not walking over from next door, so the direct subway connection and the surrounding cluster of restaurants and shops make an out of town visit a bit easier to plan around.
