About Michaels & Michaels

Michaels & Michaels is a small business and real estate law firm on Caledonia Road in the Yorkdale-Glen Park part of Toronto, in what used to be the separate municipality of North York. Brothers Lucian and Barry Michaels founded the practice in 1978, building a broad general caseload and a reputation for getting transactions closed. Lucian Michaels has since retired. Barry Michaels, who was called to the Ontario bar the same year the firm opened, still practises there, with a focus on private mortgage financing, residential conveyancing, and real property joint ventures, alongside general real estate, corporate, and wills and estates work.

Daniel Michaels became a partner in 2017 after several years as a real estate associate at Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, working on the acquisition, disposition, and financing of commercial real estate and on leasing office, industrial, and retail space. Called to the Ontario bar in 2013, Daniel Michaels holds a J.D. from the University of Toronto and an H.B.A. from Ivey Business School. At Michaels & Michaels, Daniel Michaels' practice covers real property transactions along with business formations, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance matters, carried on through Daniel Robert Michaels Professional Corporation within the firm.
