Virtual appointmentsLeaside was incorporated as its own town in 1913, named for an 1854 octagonal house called Leaside built by early landowner William Lea. Landscape architect Frederick Todd laid out streets including Laird Drive and Hanna Road as part of the original town plan. During both World Wars, Leaside became a manufacturing centre; Research Enterprises Limited alone employed more than 7,500 people at its wartime peak, alongside firms such as Canada Wire and Cable and the Leaside Munitions Company.
Most of that industry left after the war, and Leaside grew into the residential neighbourhood it is today, with former industrial sites redeveloped into commercial and office space. Vanderhoof Avenue, where the firm's office is located, sits in that converted stretch of the neighbourhood, a light industrial pocket now used for business and professional offices rather than factories. The office offers free parking on site and a wheelchair accessible entrance with elevator access, and keeps regular Monday to Friday business hours.
