About Manis Law

Manis Law is a small Toronto firm handling bankruptcy and insolvency, commercial and civil litigation, and corporate law. Senior counsel Howard F. Manis was called to the Ontario bar in 1993 and built a career representing trustees, receivers, and both corporate and individual creditors and debtors in insolvency and restructuring matters. Manis opened the firm in January 2022, after 25 years building Macdonald Sager Manis LLP with law partners, and Manis Law continues that same insolvency and commercial litigation focus under a new name.

Two lawyers work alongside Manis on files. Daniel Litsos, an associate, trained at the University of Windsor's law school and volunteered at a community legal clinic before moving into commercial litigation, while Sumeet Sooch studied corporate and commercial law at Osgoode Hall Law School and spent time on an in house corporate legal team before joining the firm. A paralegal and a law clerk with two decades of civil litigation experience round out the team, adding depth on the drafting, filings, and collection work that insolvency and litigation files generate.

The neighbourhood

Manis Law's office sits in the Yonge Eglinton Centre, the tower at 2300 Yonge Street that has anchored the northwest corner of Yonge and Eglinton since it was completed in 1974 and later renovated in 2016. The building is connected by an underground tunnel to Eglinton subway station, which keeps the firm within easy reach for clients, trustees, and receivers travelling in from across the city for insolvency and litigation matters. When it first went up, the tower was one of only a few large office buildings north of Bloor Street, and the Yonge and Eglinton area has since grown into one of midtown Toronto's busier commercial districts, a fitting setting for a firm built around commercial and insolvency work rather than a neighbourhood storefront practice.
