About Lovekin Law

Lovekin Law is a small practice run by lawyer Valentine Lovekin, with offices in Toronto's Bloor-Yorkville neighbourhood and in the village of Newcastle, part of the Municipality of Clarington east of Toronto. The Newcastle and District Chamber of Commerce lists the firm under real estate, wills, estate planning, and corporate law, and Trent University's own summary of Lovekin's professional background adds land use planning and elder law to that mix.

Lovekin is a 1984 graduate of Trent University, where studies included a B.A. (Hons) in English and Philosophy, and later earned a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. Trent's alumni profile also credits Lovekin with sitting on the Lakeridge Health Board of Trustees, Credit Canada, and the Toronto Parking Authority over the years, and in 2021 the university appointed Lovekin to its own Board of Governors for a three year term.

The neighbourhood

The Toronto office sits on Yorkville Avenue in Bloor-Yorkville, a district that started out as a 19th century residential suburb built around brick manufacturing and brewing before it became one of the city's busiest shopping and gallery strips. The local business improvement area now counts close to 1,200 member businesses along its tree-lined streets, a dense commercial setting for a practice built partly around real estate and corporate work.

The Newcastle office is on King Avenue West, in what Clarington's own heritage records call the village's historic four corners commercial core. The village was incorporated in 1856, and the municipality describes the King Avenue streetscape as lined with one and two storey brick commercial buildings from that era, still anchoring the small downtown today.
