About Lithwick Law

Lithwick Law is a solo immigration and refugee law practice in Toronto, founded by Marianne Lithwick. Lithwick was called to the Ontario Bar in 2015, after earning a J.D. from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, graduating Cum Laude, and a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree from McGill University with a specialization in International Development. The practice covers refugee determination work (hearings before the Refugee Protection Division, appeals before the Refugee Appeal Division, and pre-removal risk assessments), immigration and detention or admissibility hearings, applications for leave and judicial review and stay motions at the Federal Court of Canada, permanent residence matters including family class sponsorship and humanitarian and compassionate applications, and temporary residence applications such as visitor visas, study permits and temporary resident permits.

Before founding the firm, Lithwick articled and worked at community legal clinics in Ottawa, representing low income clients before the Landlord and Tenant Board and the Social Benefits Tribunal. Lithwick also provided pro bono legal services through the Refugee Sponsorship Support Program to assist with refugee resettlement and family reunification, and during law school received the Shirley E. Greenberg Women and the Law Fellowship. Legal Aid Ontario's lawyer directory lists Lithwick as offering services in both English and French.
