About Licata Law

Licata Law is a small Toronto law firm founded by Caterina Licata, a dual Canadian and Italian lawyer. Licata earned a law degree from Luiss Guido Carli in Rome and was licensed to practice law in Italy in 2009, then worked as a corporate-criminal lawyer there for several years. In 2013, Licata moved to Toronto, requalified as a Canadian lawyer, and worked at several Toronto firms handling business, real estate, and family law before opening an independent practice.

The firm now handles real estate transactions for both residential and commercial clients, family law matters including separation and support, business and commercial law, and mining law for companies working in Canada and South America. On the fertility side, the firm advises intended parents, donors, and surrogates on arrangements governed by the federal Assisted Human Reproduction Act. The firm's founder has described being the granddaughter of an immigrant, crediting that upbringing with a commitment to helping clients change their circumstances for the better.

The neighbourhood

Licata Law's office is in the Hullmark Centre on Yonge Street, a mixed office and residential tower in Toronto's North York City Centre, one of the most condo dense parts of the city. That fits a practice built substantially around residential and commercial real estate closings, since many of the buyers, sellers, and developers the firm works with are dealing in towers much like the one that houses its own office.

The building connects directly to the Sheppard-Yonge subway station, which makes the office reachable for clients coming from across the Greater Toronto Area for a real estate, family, or business law matter.
