About Law Offices of Sam Hill

Law Offices of Sam Hill is a Toronto sole practice covering business, employment, and sports and entertainment law. Sam Hill began a legal career in 1990 at the New York firm Battle Fowler, then moved in 1992 to Proskauer Rose's sports and commercial litigation practices, advising the NHL, the NBA, Major League Soccer and the United States Soccer Federation. Sam Hill relocated to Toronto in 1998 to join Blakes, Cassels & Graydon, where the sports work included acting as primary outside counsel to the Toronto Blue Jays before the club's sale to Rogers Communications, and advising the NHL, the Toronto Argonauts Football Club and the Canadian Olympic Committee.

By 2004 Sam Hill was running an independent law practice, later formalized as the Law Offices of Sam Hill, advising individuals and small and medium sized businesses alongside continuing work for professional and amateur sports organizations, agents and marketing companies. Sam Hill holds an undergraduate degree in Physical Health and Education from the University of Toronto and a law degree from Vermont Law School, and is admitted to practice in Ontario and New York and before the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York.

The neighbourhood

The firm's office is in the Yonge Eglinton Centre at 2300 Yonge Street, a two tower complex on the northwest corner of Yonge Street and Eglinton Avenue in midtown Toronto. The tower was built in 1974 and gained seven additional floors and new glass cladding in a 2016 renovation, and the complex connects by underground tunnel to Eglinton subway station. That kind of transit access suits a practice built around business, employment and sports clients from across the Greater Toronto Area rather than walk in traffic from the immediate block.
