Klippensteins is a Toronto law firm focused on public interest litigation and access to justice. It operates today as a sole practice led by founding principal Murray Klippenstein, after decades working as a small, growing team of Toronto lawyers, according to the firm's own history. Its practice areas span civil litigation, corporate accountability, police accountability, First Nations rights, environmental law, constitutional law, employment law, defamation, and non-profit, charity, and cooperative and affordable housing law. The office is at 393 University Avenue in downtown Toronto.
The firm has taken on cases most others wouldn't touch. It represented the family of Dudley George after the fatal 1995 shooting at Ipperwash Provincial Park, litigation and a public inquiry that helped lead to the creation of Ontario's Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs. It was co-counsel, with Eric Gillespie, in the class action that followed the mass arrests at the 2010 Toronto G20 summit, an eleven year case that ended with a public police acknowledgement, policy reform, and compensation for 1,100 people who had been arrested. More recently, Klippensteins represented Mayan Q'eqchi' plaintiffs from Guatemala in a lawsuit against a Canadian mining company over alleged human rights abuses connected to a mine in Guatemala, a case that settled in October 2024 after more than a decade of litigation.

By appointmentKlippensteins' office is at 393 University Avenue, Suite 2000, in downtown Toronto. The same building houses the Associate Judges Office of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, on the stretch of University Avenue that anchors much of Toronto's civil court system. For a firm whose work centres on litigation and public inquiries, from a Guatemalan mining case to the Ipperwash inquiry, that's a fitting address to work from.
