About Kith + Kin Law

Kith + Kin Law is a small Toronto family law practice run by lawyer Jef Moddejonge, who founded the firm after several years at a national law firm working on complex disputes through both litigation and alternative dispute resolution. Before turning to law, Moddejonge built a career in social work and children's mental health, and is a certified trainer in Therapeutic Crisis Intervention through Cornell University. That mix of legal and family systems experience shapes how the firm approaches separation and divorce.

The firm's work covers divorce, spousal support, property division, parenting agreements, child custody and support, cohabitation agreements, marriage contracts, and independent legal advice. Moddejonge is a Collaborative Family Lawyer and belongs to Collaborative Practice Toronto, the Ontario Collaborative Law Federation, and the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. For couples who'd rather stay out of court, the firm offers a Joint Early Neutral Process Consultation to help sort out which separation process fits their situation, along with mediation built around a collaborative model. When a negotiated route isn't realistic, the firm also represents clients in contested divorces.
