About King & King Barristers and Solicitors

King & King Barristers and Solicitors is a small, family run law firm in Toronto, established in 1890. The practice has passed through three generations of the King family and is now led by Andrew E. King. The firm says personal service is a priority, and it counts some clients as third generation too, meaning their own family's connection to the firm goes back multiple generations.

The firm's work covers real estate, wills and estates, estate planning, matters for small businesses, and alternative dispute resolution. It operates out of a single office on Millwood Road, keeping to the small, personal scale it has held since 1890 rather than growing into a larger practice.

The neighbourhood

The office sits on Millwood Road in Leaside. In the 1920s an underpass was cut through the Don River valley to carry Millwood Road across into the rest of Toronto, a link that helped Leaside grow from an isolated outpost into a settled neighbourhood. Leaside itself was laid out in the early 1900s as a planned community, incorporated as its own town in 1913, and designed by landscape architect Frederick Todd as an upper class residential district.

The area has stayed a neighbourhood of single family homes and upper middle class families ever since, the kind of settled community where a firm working in real estate, wills and estates, and small business law can act for the same families over more than one generation.
