About Hallstone Law

Hallstone Law is a small Toronto law firm that focuses exclusively on family law and immigration law. It's led by principal Nkemjika Ubochi, a graduate of the University of Toronto and the University of Ottawa who was called to the Ontario bar in 2015. Before founding the firm, Ubochi worked in house at BMO's Legal, Corporate and Compliance Group on contract drafting and project management, and earlier worked as a research associate and project coordinator in maternal fetal clinical research.

On the family law side, the firm negotiates separation agreements covering parenting, property division and support, and handles custody and access, child and spousal support, paternity, and domestic and international adoption, favouring a negotiated settlement over litigation where that's realistic. Its immigration practice covers Express Entry streams (Federal Skilled Worker, Federal Skilled Trades, and Canadian Experience Class), family class sponsorship, refugee protection claims and appeals, the Live in Caregiver Program, labour market impact assessments and work permits, and Provincial Nominee Program applications. It works with clients already in the Toronto area as well as people abroad who want to study, visit, or immigrate to Canada.

The firm runs from a main location in North York, near Yonge and Sheppard, with a second location in Mississauga's City Centre so it can meet clients from across the Greater Toronto Area.
