About Freeman Legal

Freeman Legal is a small commercial and civil litigation practice in downtown Toronto, founded by Joshua Freeman in the spring of 2019. Before starting an independent practice, Freeman worked as a partner in the litigation and dispute resolution group at a larger, full-service Toronto business law firm. Freeman was called to the Ontario bar in 2008 and holds a law degree from Queen's University and a B.A. in political science and philosophy from Huron University at Western.

The firm focuses on asset recovery and the collection of secured and unsecured debts, creditors' and debtors' rights, real estate and commercial tenancy litigation, mortgage enforcement, and contract and shareholder disputes. Freeman Legal appears before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal, and before provincial and federal administrative tribunals, and also handles mediation and arbitration as alternatives to trial. The firm positions itself as a smaller, client centred alternative to a large downtown firm. Freeman also serves as a coach and advisor in the Law Society of Ontario's Coach and Advisor Network, supporting other lawyers who are building or growing their own practices.
