Can I get divorced in Ontario if my spouse won't agree to it or won't cooperate?

Yes. DV Law's guidance is that Ontario law doesn't require a spouse's consent to grant a divorce, and the process can go ahead even if the other spouse opposes it or won't take part, as long as the legal requirements and court procedures are met.

My child splits time evenly between both parents. Does anyone still have to pay child support?

It can happen. DV Law notes that even when parenting time is equal, the parent with the higher income may still owe child support, because the amount is set under the Federal Child Support Guidelines based on each parent's income rather than on time split alone.

Who keeps the house after a separation in Ontario, the spouse whose name is on the title?

Not automatically. DV Law explains that the full value of the matrimonial home at separation is included in property division regardless of whose name is on title, so the outcome usually comes down to a buyout, a sale, or a temporary arrangement while finances get sorted out.

Does DV Law only take family law matters to court, or does it help outside of court too?
