About Dentons
Dentons is a global law firm formed in March 2013 through the combination of Canada's Fraser Milner Casgrain, the US based SNR Denton, and the Europe and Asia focused Salans. The merger created a firm organized as a Swiss Verein, a structure in which member firms share a name while remaining separately governed, and Dentons grew into the world's largest law firm by lawyer headcount. In Toronto, the firm occupies Suite 400 at 77 King Street West, inside the Toronto-Dominion Centre, and the office is home to more than 500 lawyers, paralegals, and business service professionals.
The Toronto team's roots go back to Fraser and Beatty, a Toronto firm founded in 1839 that merged with the Alberta firm Milner Fenerty in 1998 to become Fraser Milner Casgrain. Today the office practices across corporate and M&A, securities, litigation and dispute resolution, employment and labour, real estate, tax, and restructuring and insolvency, among other areas. Dentons' Toronto office sits inside the Toronto-Dominion Centre, at King and Bay Streets in the heart of the city's Financial District. The complex was designed under the direction of architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe with John B. Parkin and Associates and Bregman and Hamann Architects, and its main towers were built between 1964 and 1969, one of the last major projects of Mies's career, completed the same year Mies died. The TD Centre was designated under the Ontario Heritage Act in 2003, and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada has called it a masterpiece of twentieth century design.
The complex's underground concourse also became the starting point for what grew into Toronto's PATH walkway network, so the firm works from a building that shaped how the Financial District moves as well as how it looks.
