Co-founder Chris Lloyd has practiced employment law for more than 25 years, including at two Bay Street firms and as a senior employee relations professional with a major Canadian retailer, and has appeared as lead counsel in litigation before the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Divisional Court. Lloyd earned an LLB from the University of Western Ontario in 1993 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1995.

The block began in 1907 as a factory built for the Phillips Manufacturing Company and designed by architect E. J. Lennox, who is also known for Casa Loma and Toronto's Old City Hall. The building has since been converted into small studios and offices, and today's tenants on the block range from a gym to a lutherie school to other law practices, a mix that reflects how much of Leslieville's old industrial stock has been repurposed for small businesses rather than torn down.
