Compclaim Legal Services PC is a small consulting firm in downtown Toronto that works in workers' compensation law for employers across Canada, including Ontario WSIB and WSIAT matters and matters before other provincial workers' compensation boards. Founder Laura Russell started the firm in 1988, after ten years in health and safety and labour relations roles in heavy industry, primarily steel and automotive parts manufacturing. The firm represents employers, not workers: small, medium and large organizations, unionized and non-unionized, public and private sector, provincially or federally regulated, across Canada. Its work covers WSIB and WCB claims management, appeals through the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT), employer account and experience rating matters, and support for Schedule 2 (self-insured) employers.

The team is deliberately mixed rather than purely legal. Licensed paralegals work alongside a lawyer, a Certified Human Resources Professional and a Registered Practical Nurse, a combination the firm says helps it weigh medical and return to work questions as well as the legal ones. Compclaim can take on a full file from initial claim through final appeal, or step in for a single stage such as an appeal or an audit, and bills on a fee for service or project basis rather than requiring an ongoing retainer.
