About CanWise Law

CanWise Law is a small immigration and business law firm in downtown Toronto, founded by lawyer Lola Hui Ding. The office is at 2 Bloor Street East, in a highrise at Yonge and Bloor Streets originally built as the Hudson's Bay Centre. The team also includes Asher Shu Tan, who joined the firm after more than a decade working in international student recruitment and immigration law, including prior roles as a business lawyer and an immigration consultant. Both lawyers are members of the Law Society of Ontario and hold appointments as notaries public and commissioners of oaths; Tan also holds a designation as a Canadian immigration consultant, currently listed as inactive.

The firm's immigration practice covers the main pathways to permanent residence, including the Express Entry system, provincial nominee programs and Quebec's immigration streams, plus temporary visitor visas, study permits and work permits. It handles family sponsorship for spouses, parents and children, and advises on business immigration routes such as Ontario's Entrepreneur Stream and Labour Market Impact Assessment applications. When an immigration application is refused, CanWise Law can act on judicial review at the Federal Court, appeals to the Immigration Appeal Division, or apply for a writ of mandamus to compel a delayed decision. On the commercial side, the firm incorporates businesses, drafts partnership and shareholder agreements, and negotiates commercial leases. Consultations are billed at the firm's standard hourly rate of $300. (Fees as of August 2026.)
