History
Douglas T. Bourdon and W. Robert Burgess founded the firm in 1958 as a small breakaway practice. Both had been working at Anderson Bourdon Sinclair, a firm Doug Bourdon's father started in the early 1900s. The two set up in the Junction, in Toronto's west end, and the new firm did well there as a full-service barrister and solicitor practice serving that side of the city.
Paul J. Anderson's arrival in 1991 gave the firm its present name that April. In 1995 it merged with the practice of William J. Thorne, a sole practitioner in Etobicoke, and by 2003 its office was at 295 The West Mall. A second merger followed in 2007, with the Mississauga firm Rawding & Lindsay, and the combined practices have kept serving the public as Anderson Bourdon Burgess.

Brown's Line, where the office sits, is the main street of Alderwood, and in the early community the Brown and O'Connor families argued over what it should be called. The name traces to a dirt track that once led to the farm of John Brown, Alderwood's first permanent settler, who came from Yorkshire in 1831 and bought land north of Evans Avenue on the west side of the road. During the Second World War years, many industries moved into the area along Brown's Line.
