Alexander Stack Professional Corporation is a Toronto intellectual property and commercial law practice built around patents, trademarks, confidentiality and contracts for clients in technology and pharmaceuticals. Its clients come from Toronto, Hamilton, Kitchener, Waterloo and Ottawa, and from elsewhere in Canada and around the world.

The practice is led by Alexander Stack, who is called to the bar in both Ontario and New York and is a patent and trademark agent before the Canadian Intellectual Property Office and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Stack holds a J.D. and a doctorate (S.J.D.), and pairs that legal training with an engineering background: an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering and chemistry with a focus on computer applications, then a master's in nonlinear modelling and control for the chemical industry. Stack is comfortable working across technologies, from software and social media to mechanical inventions and pharmaceuticals.

Before opening ASPC, Stack practised at a major Canadian law firm and at a smaller firm that litigates and advises companies in regulated industries, and also served as in-house counsel at a major international pharmaceutical company. Past work includes securing hundreds of trademark registrations in Canada, the United States and other countries, running the trademark portfolio of a large Canadian health charity, negotiating a software-as-a-service agreement for a Bay Street wealth manager, and negotiating a clinical-stage biotech company's licensing, assignment and product development deals.

Stack also teaches a graduate course in intellectual property law and strategy in the University of Toronto Faculty of Law's Global Professional LLM program.
