Pei's firm, Pei Cobb Freed and Partners, completed in 1972 as part of the Commerce Court complex. It was the tallest building in Canada for a few years after it opened, and its stainless steel and glass curtain wall still stands out against the older, stone-clad Commerce Court North tower next door.
