Does ABALAW handle both simple and contested divorces in Toronto?

Yes. The firm represents clients through simple, uncontested divorces as well as contested divorces involving disputes over parenting, support or property, and it drafts separation, cohabitation and marriage agreements.

The Children's Aid Society is involved with my family. Can ABALAW help?

ABALAW represents parents and other family members in CAS matters and in court applications under Ontario's Child, Youth and Family Services Act, including at case conferences and hearings. The firm's site notes that a parent has the right to a court hearing within five days of a child's removal.

I was divorced outside Canada and need to remarry in Ontario. Can ABALAW help?

ABALAW prepares notarized opinion letters assessing whether a foreign divorce meets Canadian legal requirements, the document Service Ontario asks for before issuing a marriage licence to someone previously divorced abroad. Depending on the package chosen, the firm says a letter can be ready within 24 or 48 hours of receiving the documents and payment.

Does ABALAW only do family law, or can it notarize documents too?

Alongside family law, ABALAW offers notary services such as certifying true copies of documents, notarizing affidavits and declarations, witnessing signatures, and swearing oaths, including documents needed for IRCC or visa applications.
