About Galbraith & Weir

Galbraith & Weir is a small law firm based in Alliston, Ontario, part of the Town of New Tecumseth. It traces its roots to Darling, Smith, McLean and Mary L. Galbraith, a practice with more than 40 years in the Alliston community, and took its current name after lawyer David Carstairs-Weir took over Mary L. Galbraith's law office in 2014. The firm now focuses on three areas: residential and corporate real estate (purchases, sales, mortgage refinances, leases, transfers and property severances), wills and estate planning (wills, powers of attorney, estate planning and estate administration), and corporate law (incorporations, business purchases and sales, and annual corporate minutes).

Carstairs-Weir holds an Honours BA, an Honours LLB, and an Honours LLM in International Commercial Law and Intellectual Property Law, and is admitted to practice with the Law Society of Upper Canada and the Law Society of British Columbia. Before taking over the Alliston practice, Carstairs-Weir worked at Smart & Biggar in Montreal, Allbright Law in Shanghai, Crone Law Group in San Francisco, and Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in Vancouver, bringing real estate, corporate and intellectual property experience from several jurisdictions back to the firm's hometown practice. Galbraith & Weir can also arrange to meet clients at their home or office.
