About PALaw

PALaw is a Barrie, Ontario law firm run by Philip Aubin, who was called to the Ontario bar in 2014 and founded the practice in January 2015. Aubin came to law after an earlier career built around aviation and engineering: ten years in the Canadian Armed Forces as an aircraft commander on the CC-130 Hercules, followed by years flying for Air Canada and negotiating contracts for the Air Canada Pilots Association. In between, Aubin worked as a project specialist at Ontario Hydro and a civil aviation inspector at Transport Canada, then completed a Bachelor of Engineering, an MBA, and a JD from Osgoode Hall Law School, articling with Koskie Minsky LLP in pension and labour law before switching careers.

The firm concentrates on family law, handling divorce, custody and access, child and spousal support, property division, separation agreements, and marriage or cohabitation agreements. It also prepares wills, powers of attorney, and advance care directives, and offers notary and commissioner services, including witnessing oaths and affidavits, certifying signatures and true copies, and mobile notary visits by appointment. PALaw accepts Legal Aid Ontario certificates for family law matters and serves clients across Central Ontario, including the Greater Toronto Area.
