About Miles Criminal Law

Miles Criminal Law is a solo criminal defence practice in Barrie, Ontario, founded by Kimberly Miles in 2005. The practice is restricted exclusively to criminal law, representing adults and youths in the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice. Miles Criminal Law handles charges ranging from domestic assault, theft, and fraud to driving offences, sexual assault, homicide, and property offences such as break and enter, and the firm appears in Barrie, Orillia, and Bradford for bail hearings, guilty pleas, preliminary hearings, and trials.

Kimberly Miles holds a bachelor's degree with honours in psychology and a law degree, both from the University of Western Ontario, completing the law degree in 2002, and added a Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2024. Before opening the Barrie practice, Miles articled with a large full-service firm and worked as an associate for two established criminal defence lawyers. The practice accepts Legal Aid Ontario certificates and is qualified under Legal Aid Ontario's panel for extremely serious criminal matters, which covers murder trials, dangerous offender applications, and charges carrying a mandatory minimum penitentiary sentence, along with Legal Aid Ontario's Gladue panel for clients who self-identify as Aboriginal.
