HGR Graham Partners LLP is a full service regional law firm with five offices across Simcoe County, in Barrie, Elmvale, Midland, Orillia, and Penetanguishene. The firm was formed on January 1, 2012, when Hacker Gignac Rice LLP and Graham Partners LLP merged. Hacker Gignac Rice traced its start to January 1981, when three partners from historic Midland law firms joined together, and it expanded into Orillia in 2000. Graham Partners had grown out of Graham, Wilson and Green, a Barrie firm founded in 1975. On January 1, 2014, Zwicker Evans Lewis, a firm with more than 25 years in Barrie and more than 40 years in Orillia, merged in as well, extending the group's reach into Muskoka and York Region.
Today the firm's lawyers handle business and corporate law, family law, real estate, wills and estates, municipal and land development law, and civil litigation. The firm didn't grow by opening branches out of one head office. It grew by folding in small local practices already rooted in each town. Fred Hacker, one of Hacker Gignac Rice's founding partners, was a fourth generation Midland resident, and John Gignac's roots in Penetanguishene predate the merger by decades. That continuity carries through today, since clients in each community can meet a lawyer close to home rather than travel to a single downtown office.
