About Burgess Family Law

Lynn Burgess Family Law is a sole practitioner firm in Barrie, Ontario, run by lawyer Lynn Burgess, who was called to the Ontario bar in 1985. Burgess spent the early part of a career practicing family law at a full service firm in Midland, Ontario, then opened an independent practice in 2004 and relocated to Barrie. The firm has practiced family law exclusively for more than three decades and now serves clients across Simcoe County.

The practice handles the range of matters that come with separation and divorce: dividing property such as a family home, cottage, pension, or business; child and spousal support; parenting arrangements and custody; and cohabitation or marriage contracts drafted before a relationship begins. Burgess also works as a family law arbitrator, giving separating couples a private, binding alternative to going to court. As a solo practice, the firm keeps its focus narrow to family law rather than offering a broader range of legal services.
