About Templeton Law

Templeton Law is a wills, estates, and tax planning practice run by Wendy D. Templeton, a barrister and solicitor based in Peterborough with a second office in downtown Toronto. The firm has been serving clients since 2008, focusing on wills and powers of attorney, estate administration, trusts (including Henson trusts for beneficiaries with disabilities and alter ego and joint partner trusts), business succession planning, and Canada/US cross-border tax and estate planning. Both offices operate by appointment only.

Templeton holds a B.A. and J.D. along with the TEP (Trust and Estate Practitioner) and CFP (Certified Financial Planner) designations, and has appeared before the Tax Court of Canada. Before opening the firm, Templeton spent time as Vice President of Estate Planning and Wealth Transfer at BMO Financial Group, worked nine years in tax practice at a national chartered accounting firm, and was a tax partner in private practice. Templeton has also written extensively on trust and estate taxation for the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), authoring texts used in its Canadian course program.

The neighbourhood

The Toronto office sits inside First Canadian Place, the tower at King and Bay Streets that anchors the city's Financial District and connects to the underground PATH network. It's shared professional office space rather than a traditional storefront, home to Intelligent Office Toronto's private offices, meeting rooms, and virtual office clients, and Templeton meets clients there strictly by appointment.

The Peterborough office, on Scollard Drive, is Templeton's home base and also runs by appointment only. Working from a mid-sized Ontario city rather than downtown Toronto lets Templeton handle local wills and estates matters directly while still taking on Toronto-area and cross-border tax and estate files from the same practice.
