Passageway Law LLP is a law firm in downtown Peterborough, founded in 2023 by partners Meryn Steeves and Rob Hiseler. The firm opened its office on George Street North that spring and has since grown to four lawyers, serving Peterborough and the wider Kawarthas region. The firm deliberately moved away from naming itself after its partners. Its logo pairs a river, meant to suggest an efficient, direct path through a legal matter, with the balsam fir, the official tree of New Brunswick, where Meryn grew up and where Rob attended law school. Rob holds an undergraduate degree from Queen's University and a law degree from the University of New Brunswick, was called to the bar in Alberta in 2013 and in Ontario in 2014, and is a third-generation Peterborough resident. Meryn earned a communications degree from St. Thomas University and graduated from Dalhousie University's law program in 2016, articling afterward at Cox & Palmer in Halifax before returning to practice in Peterborough.
