About Boardwalk Law
Boardwalk Law LLP is a full service firm with offices in Brampton and Georgetown, serving clients across Ontario in family and divorce law, real estate, civil, commercial and estate litigation, wills and estates, employment law, and corporate law. The firm launched in January 2025, bringing together two predecessor practices with more than 25 years of history in the community: McCabe, Filkin, Garvie & Hein LLP and Lockyer + Hein LLP. The Brampton office is located at Plaza II on Rutherford Road South.
The three founding partners bring different backgrounds. Todd C. Hein was called to the Ontario bar in 1997 and focuses on family and divorce law, with courtroom experience up to the Court of Appeal for Ontario. J. David Keith, called to the bar in 2010 after Osgoode Hall Law School, worked in manufacturing and distribution management before practicing law and now handles commercial, civil and estate litigation and employment matters. Darren Frank, called to the Ontario bar in 2021, also practices civil, commercial and estate litigation and employment law. Associate Nadine Esaid focuses on estate litigation, commercial litigation, civil litigation and employment law, and is also a Solicitor of England and Wales who speaks Arabic in addition to English.

Milestones & recognition
- The firm's roots go back more than 25 years through its predecessor practices, McCabe, Filkin, Garvie & Hein LLP and Lockyer + Hein LLP, before the partners combined under the Boardwalk Law name in January 2025.
- Founding partner J. David Keith argued Maxwell v. Altberg, 2023 ONCA 305, before the Court of Appeal for Ontario, which upheld a summary judgment decision on mortgage enforcement limitation periods under the Real Property Limitations Act.

The neighbourhood
Boardwalk Law's main office sits in Plaza II on Rutherford Road South in Brampton.
The firm's second office, at 8 Guelph St in Georgetown, puts it in the older commercial core of Halton Hills, a town that has grown from a mill village into a Chamber of Commerce community northwest of Brampton. From there the firm has reached further into the area, co-hosting a seniors' downsizing seminar in neighbouring Acton as well as Georgetown itself.
