About Savia Legal

Savia Legal Professional Corporation is a family and estate law firm with its office on Woodward Drive in Ottawa's west end, just off the Queensway at the Maitland Avenue exit. The firm serves clients across the Ottawa area and the Ottawa Valley, and some services, such as family mediation, are available remotely to clients across Ontario. It began under the name Forward Family Law and Mediation and later took the name Savia Legal PC.

The firm handles divorce and separation, marriage and cohabitation agreements, foreign divorce opinion letters, wills, powers of attorney, and estate administration, including Henson trusts for beneficiaries with disabilities. Clients can choose full representation, a limited scope arrangement for one part of a case, hourly legal coaching, or a collaborative, non adversarial process, and can also work with a mediator on staff. Because a mediator has to stay neutral, the firm refers clients to outside counsel when one of its lawyers is acting as mediator, rather than acting as both mediator and lawyer in the same file. The founding partner has appeared in family law matters at all court levels, up to the Supreme Court of Canada, and another lawyer at the firm holds law degrees in both civil law and common law and articled at the International Criminal Court in The Hague before moving into family law practice.
