About PBS Law

PBS Law is the practice of Patricia B. Simpson Professional Corporation, a solo family law firm based in Kanata, on the west side of Ottawa. Patricia Simpson was called to the Ontario bar in 1997, after a law degree from the University of Toronto and an arts degree from the University of Waterloo. Before concentrating on family law, Simpson practised insurance defence, civil litigation, products liability, construction law and estate litigation at national, mid-sized and small firms around Ottawa. Simpson also co-founded and ran a firm for 13 years, an experience credited with building a working knowledge of business structures and the practical side of running a practice.

Today PBS Law focuses on separation and divorce work: marriage contracts, cohabitation agreements, negotiated separation agreements, and independent legal advice, along with unbundled services for clients who only need help with part of a matter. Simpson is collaboratively trained and belongs to Collaborative Divorce Ottawa, and holds an Advanced Family Mediation certificate and an Associate Membership in the Ontario Association of Family Mediators. The firm describes its approach as settlement focused, aiming for amicable, lower-conflict resolutions rather than contested court proceedings, and offers a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to prospective clients.
