About Harvey Avocat

Harvey Avocat is a business law practice based in the Vanier neighbourhood of Ottawa, serving entrepreneurs on both sides of the Ontario-Quebec border. Sebastien Harvey founded the firm in 2018 after more than two decades in business law, and the practice today handles incorporation, shareholder agreements, commercial contracts, corporate reorganization, and business transfers for clients in sectors such as construction, real estate, retail, health care, and technology. Harvey Avocat operates in both French and English, reflecting Harvey's membership in the Quebec and Ontario bars.

Harvey was sworn to the Quebec bar in 1995 and began practising at an Outaouais firm under a business law mentor who later joined the judiciary. In 2010, Harvey moved to the commercial law team of a Quebec notary firm, building close working relationships with notaries, then became senior partner at an interdisciplinary Outaouais firm in 2014, where the business law department more than doubled within two years. Harvey's background also includes time on a team that trained Canadian peacekeepers and international personnel on the law of conflict zones, and years living in Morocco, Switzerland, Montreal, and Quebec City before settling in the Ottawa-Gatineau region.
