About Edirmana Law

Edirmana Law is a solo immigration and human rights practice based in the Vanier neighbourhood of Ottawa, with a phone line for clients in the Toronto area as well. The firm was founded by A. Nadine Edirmanasinghe, who was called to the Ontario bar by the Law Society of Upper Canada in 2010 after articling at a large immigration law firm in Toronto. Before opening the practice, Edirmanasinghe worked as a Legal Officer for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in Canada and had earlier been employed by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).

The firm handles permanent residence and citizenship applications, refugee protection claims and pre-removal risk assessments, appeals to the Federal Court and the Immigration and Refugee Board, and temporary work permits, study permits and visitor visas. It also offers commissioner and notarial services. Edirmanasinghe holds an LL.B. from the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Common Law (2009), an M.A. from Carleton University's Norman Paterson School of International Affairs (2011), and an earlier Honours B.A. from York University, and has authored refugee law research published by UNHCR along with a 2012 article on refugee policy in Embassy News.
