The House Lawyer is a solo real estate and estates practice in downtown Cobourg, Ontario, run by Carrie Low, a barrister and solicitor called to the Ontario bar in 1999. Low earned an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and International Development from the University of Guelph in 1994 and an LL.B from Queen's University law school in 1997. Low started out as an associate at Blake, Cassels & Graydon in Toronto, then spent 17 years in Royal Bank's in-house law department, working on consumer contracts, marketing, advertising, corporate sponsorship, and banking compliance. Low's family relocated to Cobourg in 2007.

In 2017, Low joined in association with Richard Irvine, a lawyer who had practised in Northumberland County for more than 45 years, and took over Irvine's real estate practice after Irvine's retirement. The firm handles real estate transactions for buyers, sellers, and refinancing, along with wills, powers of attorney, and notary and commissioner services. Real estate clerk Christine Wilkinson, who has worked as a law clerk in Northumberland County for more than 23 years, joined the firm in 2019. The House Lawyer makes house calls for clients dealing with scheduling, childcare, or mobility constraints, is set up for virtual meetings and electronic signing, and offers a free consultation.
