About Olij Law

Olij Law is a small general practice in Smithville, Ontario, in the Niagara Region. It's built around one lawyer, Harold Olij, who's also a notary public and works across the firm's three practice areas rather than sticking to a single specialty. The office is at 128 St. Catharine Street, and the firm serves clients throughout Niagara Region, including farm clients well outside Smithville itself.

Real estate work at Olij Law covers more than home closings: farm purchases and leases, life interest arrangements, HST questions on farmland, commercial leases, and asset sales, plus new home and subdivision work. On the estate side, Olij Law prepares wills, powers of attorney, and health care directives, and advises executors, trustees, and beneficiaries through probate and estate administration. Its business law work runs from incorporations and partnerships to the purchase and sale of a business, shareholder agreements, and structuring aimed at protecting a client's assets from family law claims and creditor risk.

Two staff members, Renee Kaune and Joyce Olij, along with a third, Zoe, support the real estate, estates, and corporate files. The firm keeps regular weekday hours and offers evening appointments by request.
