About Burford Law

Burford Law Professional Corporation is a general practice firm in Napanee, Ontario, in the Lennox and Addington region of Eastern Ontario. Founder Barb Burford graduated from Queen's University's law school in 1983 and was called to the bar in 1986, the year the firm was established, and has practiced from downtown Napanee for four decades since. Burford was the first female lawyer to practice in the Napanee area. Early in the firm's history the practice focused on family law before broadening into estate planning and real estate, with earlier work at the Office of the Children's Lawyer and as a part time federal Crown prosecutor.

Jillian Burford-Grinnell worked for a period as a law clerk in family law and real estate before returning to Queen's Law, graduating in 2014 and being called to the Ontario bar in 2015. Burford-Grinnell now serves as president of the Lennox & Addington Law Association, a county law association and FOLA member. Senior associate Dawn Quelch trained at York University and Queen's Faculty of Law, articled with the Crown Attorney's office in Kenora, was called to the bar in 2007, and defends accused persons before the courts in Eastern Ontario. Burford Law handles family law, criminal defence, real estate, civil litigation, corporate law, wills and estates, and administrative tribunal matters for Napanee and the surrounding county.
