About Clarke & Wright

Clarke & Wright Professional Corporation is a four-lawyer general practice firm in Gananoque, Ontario, on the edge of the Thousand Islands. The firm traces its start to 1967, when Ronald MacFarlane, Q.C., a World War II veteran, recruited Harry Clarke to the practice and funded a year of study in England. Colin Wright joined the partnership in 1977. Today its lawyers and three support staff bring what the firm describes as over 100 years of combined legal experience to real estate, wills and estates, family law, civil litigation, and corporate law.

The office at 280 King Street East sits in a stone building known as the Robinson House, built around 1857 with limestone on the front and sandstone on the other three sides. Four generations of the same family lived there before Agnes Rogers sold the property to MacFarlane and Clarke for their law practice. A 1977 rear addition burned in a 1986 fire, but the original structure survived and was fully renovated that year. Clarke & Wright offers free, pre-retainer consultations and refers clients to more specialized counsel when a matter calls for it.
