About Whitehead Law & Mediation

Whitehead Law & Mediation is a Sarnia family law practice founded by Janet M. Whitehead, who earned a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Ontario in 1991 and was called to the Ontario bar in 1993. Whitehead practiced law in London and Sarnia and Lambton for more than 30 years before retiring in 2026. In 2016, the practice narrowed its focus to matters that could be resolved through mediation or negotiation rather than litigation, a shift Whitehead made after seeing the emotional and financial toll that court disputes can take on families. Whitehead Law & Mediation is now part of the Drake Law Group, a family and personal law firm headquartered in London, Ontario with branch offices in Windsor, Sarnia, Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton, Oakville, Mississauga and Toronto.

The Sarnia office still handles separation and divorce, property division, spousal and child support, parenting arrangements, common-law separation and cohabitation agreements, working through negotiation, mediation or family court litigation depending on what a file needs. Its mediation service runs through an individual intake session with each party, then joint or shuttle mediation sessions, with a written agreement drafted once the parties reach consensus. Clients also have access to Drake Law Group's real estate and wills and estates lawyers for related matters.
