About Diakiw Law

Diakiw Law is a solo employment and insurance law practice based in Burlington, Ontario, and run by lawyer Michaela Diakiw. Diakiw is a licensed member of the Law Societies of Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta and has practiced insurance law for more than a decade. Before becoming a lawyer, Diakiw worked in several roles inside the insurance industry, which shaped a legal practice built around understanding how insurers evaluate claims.

The practice began with personal injury files, including motor vehicle accidents, farm injuries, and slip and fall claims. Over the past decade it has shifted mainly toward long-term disability, life insurance, and accidental death and dismemberment claims, along with employment law for both employees and employers. Diakiw Law also conducts workplace investigations and drafts workplace policies for employers, and takes a particular interest in disability claims tied to mental health and addiction, a category insurers don't always evaluate consistently.
