About HNT Law

HNT Law is a real estate law practice based in Guelph that also works with clients across the Greater Toronto Area. The firm takes its name from the initials of its founder, Hai Tran, who started the practice after articling at a firm focused on estate planning and real estate law. Most of the day to day work is solicitor's work: buying and selling homes, refinancing, title transfers, and condominium and pre-construction purchases, along with non-resident deals and private and personal financing. The firm also prepares wills, powers of attorney, and estate documents, and it offers notary public services, including same day notarization. Consultations are free, and documents can be signed remotely for clients who can't come in person.

The founder holds a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School and is licensed by the Law Society of Ontario as a barrister and solicitor, and as a notary public in Ontario. Hai Tran also teaches at the University of Guelph as an assistant professor in the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, where the courses run from real estate law to Canadian business law. HNT Law works in both English and Vietnamese, which helps it serve Vietnamese speaking clients across Ontario.

The neighbourhood

The office sits in the Hanlon Creek Business Park on the south edge of Guelph, away from the historic downtown. The City of Guelph acquired about 420 acres in 2001 to develop the business park. The location suits a practice that closes real estate deals in both Guelph and the Toronto area, since the site is a short drive from Highway 401 and the corridor east toward Milton, Mississauga, and the rest of the GTA.
