About Yaa

Yaa Asare is the founder of Asare Law Office, where she practises immigration and refugee law, family law, labour and employment law, and criminal law. She holds an LL.B. from the Ghana Institute of Management and Professional Administration, trained at the Ghana School of Law, and later earned an LL.M. from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. Asare was called to the bar in Ghana, where she worked as an associate attorney representing clients in court and negotiating settlements, and also worked with Ghana's Human Rights Commission advocating for people with disabilities, women, and children. After moving to Canada, she completed the Law Practice Program at Toronto Metropolitan University and trained with an immigration and refugee law firm before being licensed as a barrister and solicitor by the Law Society of Ontario. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Ghana and has volunteered with a shelter in Orillia and as a human rights trainer in Ghana.
