About Virginia
Virginia Zhao practises tax and trust law in Vancouver, focusing on tax planning around business succession, separation, retirement, and estate and legacy planning. She advises on tax-driven reorganizations and on the tax implications of buying or selling a business, divorce or separation, and residential or commercial real estate, covering federal and provincial income tax, GST/HST, PST, the speculation and vacancy tax, property transfer tax, and Vancouver's empty homes tax. She completed the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Courses I, II and III in 2020, placing in the top five for the Year III project, and is a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP). Before starting her own practice she articled with an international firm and later practised at a specialized tax and trust firm. She contributes to the Continuing Legal Education Society of British Columbia and was a faculty member for its Advanced Conveyancing course in 2022 and 2024.
