Vincent Larochelle is a Whitehorse lawyer with a litigation and courtroom advocacy practice. He studied law at Oxford University on a Rhodes Scholarship after completing a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Classics at McGill University. He worked as a corporate tax lawyer in New York with Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt LLP, then clerked for Justices Lebel and Côté at the Supreme Court of Canada before moving into litigation. He worked for the Yukon Legal Services Society before starting his own practice, and has appeared before the Courts of Appeal across the country and the Supreme Court of Canada, including as an intervenor in R. v. Penunsi (2019) and in Commission Scolaire Francophone de la Colombie-Britannique v. Attorney General of British Columbia. He is called to the Yukon, British Columbia, and New York bars, and is also admitted to the Québec bar as a Canadian legal advisor. His practice covers criminal defence, including dangerous offender proceedings, as well as language rights, prison law, estate litigation, Charter litigation, education law, construction law, administrative law, and civil litigation generally. In 2021, he authored the book Dangerous Offender Law, published by LexisNexis. He has served as president of the Canadian Bar Association's Yukon Section and chair of the Alpine Club of Canada's Yukon Section.
