Sonia St-Onge has been a member of the Barreau du Québec since 1991 and has practised family law throughout her career. She has been an accredited family mediator since 2004 and graduated in law from Université Laval in 1990. She has been active in her community for nearly 25 years, including terms as president of the Réseau des femmes d'affaires (Salaberry-de-Valleyfield section) and of the Chambre de commerce de la région de Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, and she served as bâtonnière of the Barreau de Richelieu for the 2007-2008 term. She has also sat on the board of directors of the Collège de Valleyfield and, since 2014, has chaired the Mardis en musique concert series organized by the Chambre de commerce Beauharnois-Valleyfield-Haut-Saint-Laurent.
