About Shibil
Shibil Siddiqi is a litigator and workplace investigator at Progressive Barristers, focusing on employment, labour, and human rights law. He has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, the Federal Court, and the Supreme Court of Canada, and regularly appears before administrative tribunals including the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, and the Landlord and Tenant Board. Before founding Progressive Barristers, he practised at a Toronto legal clinic serving marginalized communities and later worked exclusively in human rights law at an independent government agency. He helped establish a legal aid clinic in Kabul, Afghanistan with the International Development Law Organization, and has been a Fellow at the Gordon Foundation and at the Centre for the Critical Study of Power and Politics at Trent University. He holds an LL.B. from the University of Warwick and an LL.M. in International Human Rights Law from the University of Toronto, and serves on the Law Society of Ontario's Equity Advisory Group.
